GOL Linhas Aéreas Inteligentes S.A., Brazil’s low-cost airline, announces that it has signed an interline agreement with American Airlines. The agreement will allow American Airlines’ passengers to purchase tickets to all destinations served by GOL in Brazil and South America.

São Paulo – The agreement also allows American Airlines to issue point to point tickets. The partnership will provide GOL with a new channel to distribute its tickets, with low sales costs, through American Airlines‘ network in Brazil and other countries. Allowing American Airlines’ customers access to GOL’s flight networks will increase passenger traffic and load factors on GOL flights as well as generate new revenue for the Company. According to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), more than 2.6 million passengers traveled between the United States and Brazil in 2007. American Airlines offers the most seats between both countries, operating 69 weekly flights between three destinations in the United States (Miami, Dallas/Fort Worth and New York City), and five Brazilian cities (São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, Salvador and Recife). The interline agreement allows ticket distribution by GDS (Global Distribution System) and the convenience of a unified luggage check-in process.
