CHEF SERGI AROLA ADDS TASTE TO IBERIA SHUTTLE
Under its ongoing quality improvement campaign, Iberia has made several enhancements to its Puente Aéreo [“air bridge”) Madrid-Barcelona shuttle service, including food service for Business Class passengers designed by the renowned Catalan chef Sergi Arola, based on the healthy Mediterranean diet.
The menu, designed for frequent users of the shuttle, changes throughout the day and in the different seasons. For the first time, hot dishes will be available at all mealtimes, including breakfast.
For example, on flights taking off at 20:00 or later, dinner will be served based on pasta and fresh fruit, with a choice of such dishes as salted gnochetti with baby squid and shellfish sauce, noodles with mushrooms or clams, and macaroni with shrimps, broccoli, and zucchini.
From 10:30 to 20:00 h hot snacks consisting of focaccio bread and cocapizzas will be served, including focaccia bread of vegetables with mozzarella or onion with Idiazábal cheese. The cocapizzas are made with ratatouille with cheese and anchovies, with white and black Catalan butifarra sausage and fuet; with turkey, cheese, and curry; with tomato, mozzarella, and fresh herbs, etc.
Before 10.30 h. breakfast will be served, consisting of an omelette with cherry tomatoes, fresh fruit or a prebiotica drink, bread, butter, marmalade, coffee, and an assortment of hot pastries.
Iberia has also changed its food service procedures for the greater convenience of Business Class passengers on the shuttle. Breakfast rolls and coffee are now served independently during breakfast, and coffee is served independently during all flights. New trays and porcelain dishware have also been added.
One Free Shuttle Flight for Every Five You Buy
Members of the frequent flyers programme Iberia Plus will now obtain twice the usual number of points for using the Madrid-Barcelona shuttle. This means that after five return flights, they will have earned enough points to get another one for free.
More than 68% of Puente Aéreo users are Iberia Plus members, and as such are eligible for numerous advantages, from flying miles to hotel stays, rental cars, and –depending on the card level– a larger luggage allowance, access to VIP lounges, upgrades, travel insurance, and much more.
Founded 17 years ago, Iberia Plus was Europe’s first international loyalty programme, and today it boasts more than three million members and 80 associated companies, including all Iberia’s partner airlines in the oneworld alliance, leading hotel chains, car rental firms, and a variety of companies offering financial services, oil products, and even real estate.
