On Friday, January 5, Czech Airlines will be setting out on a journey towards the land of fire – Tierra del Fuego.
The ČSA charter flight will be bound for the Punta Arenas Airport in Chile, near the legendary Cape Horn and it will be carrying clients of a German travel agency on an expedition into Antarctica. Punta Arenas is one of the most remote destinations ever visited by one of ČSA’s planes.
The ČSA Airbus A310 will make two stopovers on its way towards Tierra del Fuego – one will be in Dakar, Senegal and the other will be in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The tourists on the flight will be setting off on a 21-day trip through Patagonia and Tierra del Fuego and they will be visiting the southernmost tip of South America – Cape Horn. They will board an ocean cruise ship to continue on to Antarctica, which they will be visiting at an unusual time of the year – the local summer. On their way back from Antarctica, the tourists will get a chance to visit the Falkland Islands. They can look forward to seeing giant penguin colonies and other creatures such as elephant seals, sea gulls, albatrosses and other fauna typical of this exotic area of the world. Even with today’s modern conveniences, tours to Antarctica are relatively uncommon.
[GADS_NEWS]Besides this exotic flight to the outskirts of the Antarctic Circle, Czech Airlines recently provided service with its Airbus A321 aircraft to the city of Rovaniemi, Finland, which lies on the Artic Circle. Foreign travel agencies are more and more often becoming clients of Czech Airlines. The airline’s charter flights are also becoming increasing popular among a wide range of different types of corporate clients from all over the world.
This winter, ČSA has been providing regular service for Czech travel agencies to attractive tourist destinations such as Varadero in Cuba, the Venezuelan island of La Isla Margarita and Punta Cana and La Romana in the Dominican Republic. The most popular and less distant destinations for the winter season have been Egypt and the Canary Islands.
Charter flights are the fastest growing segment of Czech Airline’s business. During the first 11 months of 2006, the number of passengers carried on the airline’s charter flights grew by almost 10% over the previous year to a record total of 760,000.
