China Airlines: Skytrax Gives CAL Highest Ever Rankings Economy


Business and First Class are Ranked 2nd, 6th and 8th Respectively

Taipei, Taiwan – Skytrax Research, a leading airline service research institute based in London, has once again recognized China Airlines for its excellent overall service performance. In the category of Aggregate Economy Class Service Quality, CAL was ranked Second Best among 66 of the world’s most famous airlines.  Also, CAL was ranked Sixth and Eighth best in the world in Aggregate Business and First Class Service Quality, respectively. This is the best service quality appraisal ever received by a Taiwan-based airline, and it puts CAL near the top of the global list.

The survey contains two broad categories, called Service Aggregate and Product Aggregate. CAL was ranked first worldwide in several aspects of Economy Class Service Quality, including Efficiency of Meal Services, Consistency Levels amongst Cabin Staff, Airport Services, Consistency of Ground Staff Check-in Service and Cabin Comfort. Last year CAL was ranked fourth in Aggregate Economy Class Service Quality and this year it won second place. The Top 10 airlines in Aggregate Economy Class Service Quality, as ranked by Skytrax, are Singapore Airlines, China Airlines, Asiana Airlines, Malaysia Airlines, Qatar Airways, Korean Air, ANA, Thai Airways, Cathay Pacific, and Emirates.

In Aggregate Business Class Service Quality, CAL improved from seventh last year to sixth this year among 66 of the world’s most famous airlines.  CAL was ranked first worldwide in several aspects of Service Aggregate, including Cabin Staff Service Attention and Intensity, Check-in Staff Efficiency Service, and Consistency among Check-in Staff. The Top 10 airlines in Aggregate Business Class Service Quality are Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines, Air New Zealand, China Airlines, Thai Airways, Qantas Airways, Etihad Airways and Virgin Atlantic

In Aggregate First Class Service Quality, among 34 of the world’s top airlines, CAL improved from 11th last year to eighth this year.  In several aspects of Service Aggregate, CAL was ranked in the top five. The Top 10 airlines in Aggregate First Class Service Quality are Singapore Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Qatar Airways, Malaysia Airlines, Emirates, Thai Airways, ANA, China Airlines, Etihad Airways and Asiana Airlines.

Skytrax Research also conducted a 5-Star Rating program for the world airline industry, using the criteria of Front-line Product and Service Quality for both ground and onboard operations. CAL achieved the highest quality performance as it earned 104 five-star rankings among the 500 criteria of in-flight service, including a Five Star Ranking in First Class long-haul service.

In addition, CAL was ranked eighth worldwide in the Airline of the Year rankings, and its home-base lounge in Taoyuan International Airport was ranked seventh in the World’s Best Business-Class Lounge category, in a recent survey that included more than 14,800,000 responses, with passengers from 93 nations participating.
