Midwest Airlines (Amex: MEH) took home another „best“ award when its popular frequent flyer program — Midwest Miles — earned the Freddie Award for Best Customer Service at the 19th Annual Freddie Awards on April 26 in Arlington, Va. It is the second consecutive year the airline has won the coveted award.

MILWAUKEE — Founded in 1988 by Randy Petersen, publisher of Inside Flyer magazine and named after the late Sir Freddie Laker, the British aviation entrepreneur, the Freddie Awards recognize excellence in frequent travel programs. Award recipients are determined by members of frequent flyer programs worldwide, who vote online for their favorites in nine categories.

„It’s extremely gratifying that people who travel frequently recognize our employees‘ efforts to consistently provide comfortable, attentive and professional service,“ said Scott R. Dickson, Midwest Airlines senior vice president and chief marketing officer. „This Freddie award shows that once again, our employees are dedicated to delivering outstanding customer service both in the air and on the ground.“

In addition to its first place win, Midwest Airlines also placed in the top four in five other categories: Best Award, Best Award Redemption, Best Member Communications, Best Web Site and Program of the Year.

Known as „The best care in the air“ for its superior customer service, Midwest Airlines has been named best airline 47 times since 1990. Both Travel+Leisure and the Zagat Airline Survey have rated Midwest Airlines the best airline in the United States.

Midwest Airlines features jet service throughout the United States, including Milwaukee’s most daily nonstop flights and best schedule to major destinations. Catering to business travelers and discerning leisure travelers, the airline earned its reputation as „The best care in the air“ by providing passengers with impeccable service and onboard amenities at competitive fares. Both Skyway Airlines, Inc. — a wholly owned subsidiary of Midwest Airlines — and SkyWest Airlines operate as Midwest Connect and offer service to and connections through Midwest Airlines‘ hubs. Together, the airlines offer service to 51 cities. More information is available at http://www.midwestairlines.com.
