Monarch Airlines, one of the UK’s major providers of low-cost scheduled flights, is the latest carrier to opt for ULD control and pooling.

Monarch Airlines joins a growing number of airlines that have decided to outsource ULD control to Unitpool, who have spear-headed the development of ULD pooling services.

“More airlines are opting to outsource ULD control services to Unitpool, with this type of service offering becoming widely recognized within the airline industry as a viable alternative to traditional in-house operations. Monarch Airlines has considered outsourcing our ULD control for some time and has been following the developments in the industry. In Unitpool we have found a partner with exceptional expertise and knowledge in this specialised area. The long-term contract we have signed with Unitpool will enable us to focus on our core business and are confident that Unitpool will bring global improvements in our ULD handling, stock control and tracking for Monarch.” says Ken Brooker, Operations Project Manager, Monarch Airlines.

Daniel Sudan, Unitpool Acting CEO, says, “We are seeing a clear acceleration in the interest being shown by airlines to the possibilities now available to outsource non-core activities such as ULD control. With the addition of Monarch Airlines we continue to expand our global operations, which ultimately bring further benefits to all our ULD pooling customers.”

Unitpool is now serving airline customers at more than 200 stations globally with a ULD pool of more than 23,000 ULDs.
