Continental Airlines (NYSE: CAL) expects to record $77 million of special charges during the fourth quarter of 2009 ($145 million for the full year 2009). Continental also expects to record a non-cash income tax benefit during the fourth quarter of 2009 and for the year ended Dec. 31, 2009.
LAN Airlines S.A. and its subsidiaries, (“LAN” or “the Company”) (NYSE: LFL / IPSA: LAN), one of the leading airlines in Latin America, announced that the Company signed a contract for the purchase of 30 modern Airbus A320 family aircraft to be delivered between 2011 and 2016.

Vietnam Airlines has signed a contract for 10 A350-900 XWBs, as well as for 10 additional A321s. This announcement follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the aircraft on 1st October 2007 in the presence of Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of Vietnam during his state visit to France.
