Seychelles Secrets Arises Curiosity at BIT 2009

Seychelles’ representatives witnessed a rise in the popularity of the Seychelles Secrets Programme among visitors at the International Tourism Exchange Fair, or BIT, February 19 to 22. The regional manager of the Italian Market, Monette Rose, was interviewed by prominent media channels present where she disclosed information about the Seychelles Secrets.

Attended every year by Seychelles, BIT which is held in Milan had over 150 thousand visitors this year and the Air Seychelles stand, where the Seychelles representatives were exhibiting, attracted more visitors than last year.

‘We had countless enquiries about the Seychelles Secret Programme at the fair,’ says Ms Rose adding how they were asking about the ‘piccole case with piccoli giardini’ which is Italian for small houses with small gardens.

Seychelles gained coverage in the media via numerous interviews held by the likes of La 7 which interviewed the Regional Manager where she revealed more about the affordability of Seychelles. La7 is a partner with MTV and the interview was aired on Sunday morning at 09.15. She was also interviewed by Vacanze TV and the broadcasting time TBA.

‘RAI 3 – three weeks before interviewed a couple during the programme of Alle Falde del Kilimangiaro’, says Ms Rose, ‘and they advised that they went to Seychelles by visiting the website of the Tourism Board and that of the Airline. The following morning we arrived in the office with our inbox full of emails.’

Other media present were Mondadori pubblicità for honeymooners, Expo Tourism (the Global Online Travel Exhibition ), Viaggi di Nozze, Arte di Vivere srl, Georeporter, MediaIn, Edizioni Condé Nast S.P.A., Charme Magazine International and Photographers like Sergio Pitamitz many others.

‘Through such trade fairs we gain publicity, however, more needs to be done to gain numbers from this market,’ she adds. ‘In this time of economic crisis we need to be pro-active, hold marketing activities, educationals, press trips, and generate more promotion on our affordable products, such as our secrets.’

The Seychelles Secrets set up by the Seychelles Tourism Board is an affordable selection of small hotels, guest houses and self-catering establishments offering the best in authentic Creole hospitality, cuisine and culture.
