Special $129 renovation rate available beginning August 26, 2007
WAIKIKI, HONOLULU, OAHU – The OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber has begun an
expansive $12.1 million refurbishment of the hotel, with the first phase to
include all 493 guest rooms that will transform the rooms into comfortable
and beautiful spaces with interiors that offer a modern take on vintage
Hawaii décor.
Renovations started in July on the hotel’s top floors in order to minimize
any inconvenience to guests. Newly renovated rooms will be ready for
occupancy in late 2007, with all the room renovations completed by February
2008.
As a Waikiki landmark known for hosting Don Ho’s show in his final years,
the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber’s new room décor is inspired by the Waikiki of
the 1950s and 60s. After the transformation, guest rooms will have an open,
airy feel with a more subtle color palette and tropical motif. The complete
interior remodel of the hotel’s guest rooms features a rejuvenated look with
modern lines, neutral hues, sandstone accents, new carpeting, and lavish
bedding – all designed to compliment the breathtaking Hawaiian landscape
outside.
„Our island hospitality is OHANA’s greatest asset, and we want to make sure
our guests feel comfortable and taken care of,“ said Tom Wakita, Director of
Sales and Marketing for OHANA Hotels & Resorts. „The new rooms at the OHANA
Waikiki Beachcomber will make a stay at this well-known hotel even more
enjoyable and comfortable.“
Each room’s upgraded interior will feature new Alder and Cherry hardwood
furniture with rich cocoa-colored finishes, soft lighting from
custom-designed lamps, and flat-screen televisions. In the bathroom, granite
counters, custom hardwood cabinetry and tropical accessories provide an
elegant feeling.
In addition, the rooms will feature island artwork. A starfish and nautilus
shell framed by a woven shadow box will hang over the bed in each room. The
entryway will feature an art piece by Kerne Erickson called „Aloha Hawaii“
in a bamboo frame that coordinates perfectly with furniture pieces, with a
second Erickson piece titled „Waikiki“ within the room. Artwork by Mark
Brown entitled „Kahanamoku Beach“ will also grace the guestroom wall.
The bedspread pattern is a custom design that recalls the sea and features
the bright colors of Hawaii’s flowers. New sand-hued plush carpets reflect
Waikiki’s beaches. Retro-style lamps will be accented in a dark teal-colored
acrylic to reflect the ocean.
In the bathroom, palm trees that reflect Hawaiian foliage will be printed on
the shower curtains and light fixtures will be complete with wave patterns
and glass shades. The mirror frame will have dark wood finishes with a
textured bamboo pattern.
Beginning August 26 through December 21, 2007, the OHANA Waikiki Beachcomber
will be offering a special renovation rate starting at $129 per room, per
night, subject to availability.
