“red dot: best of the best” design award goes to LIFEBOOK Q2010

When the renowned “red dot” design awards ceremony takes place on June 25th, Fujitsu Siemens Computers will receive its first “best of the best” award for a product with the highest design quality. The LIFEBOOK Q2010, which came into the market in spring 2006, was conceived and developed with an emphasis on design.

According to the jury, the designers Georg Trost and Tomohiro Takizawa achieved the perfect synthesis of form, function and style. In addition, the Pocket LOOX N100 won the “red dot” for its high level of design quality.

The “red dot design award” covers 13 product groups, such as entertainment electronics, home or office. The jury assesses the submitted products according to defined criteria such as the innovation, functionality, formal quality, ergonomics, symbolic and emotional content and self-explanatory aspects of a product. Specialists have a high regard for the “red dot” as a seal of approval for quality design. Almost 6,000 entries from 52 countries make the “red dot” one of the largest design competitions in the world.

Barbara Schädler, Chief Marketing Officer of Fujitsu Siemens Computers says, “Design is becoming increasingly important for us when developing new products. And the LIFEBOOK Q2010 was created with design as its main focus. We wanted to design a noble, elegant notebook using high-value materials such as titanium joints and black piano lacquer finish. The ‘red dot’ is an important confirmation for us and very encouraging. In the future, a distinctive attractive design will make our high-end notebooks must-have products”.

The LIFEBOOK Q2010 embodies the ultimate combination of sophisticated design and exclusive materials with cutting-edge mobility technology. Weighing in at a mere one kilogram, the compact LIFEBOOK Q2010 is only 20mm thin in DIN A4 format. The embedded UMTS enables data access and telephone communication anywhere and at any time. The LIFEBOOK Q2010 is the perfect mobile companion for managers and decision-makers spending much of their time on the move.

The Pocket LOOX N100

The new Pocket LOOX N100 series from Fujitsu Siemens Computers is the perfect mobile navigator, be it in a car, on a bike or even on foot. Using NAVIGON software MobileNavigator|6 it is not only one of the smallest, but also one of the most lightweight (only 110 grams) multi-functional Personal Navigation Assistant (PNA) on the market. It also has great sound thanks to its integrated MP3 player. Its lean design with integrated antenna and changeable front cover makes it one of the finest in its class.

Professor Peter Zec, initiator of the “red dot design award” and President of the International Council of Industrial Design (Icsid), will present Fujitsu Siemens Computers with the award on June 25th in Essen/Germany.
