Extravagant Chinese cuisine for First and Business Class passengers

In March and April, Lufthansa passengers travelling in First or Business Class will be able to savour delicious creations from the Land of Smiles. The outstanding menus have been created exclusively for Lufthansa by Zhang Jin Jie, or JinR as she is known, who is the owner and chef of the innovative Green T. House in Beijing.

As a starter in First Class, passengers can, for example, choose nashi pear with honey mustard sauce, goat cheese and caramelised walnuts or eggplant filled with jasmine rice served with broccoli, ginkgo nuts and lotus root. The Business Class menu includes slices of seared breast of chicken with ginger-sesame vinaigrette and pineapple-mango chutney or strips of beef simmered in soy sauce witih ginger, egg noodles and China beans.

In the early days, the Green T. House had a floor area of just 15 square metres and had only three tables, at which Zhang Jin Jie served a selection of green teas. While it is now a world-famous gourmet restaurant, it has lost none of its relaxing atmosphere and appeal. Today, however, guests can sit and enjoy the innovative culinary delicacies created by JinR sourrounded by lavish pieces of furniture and creatively arranged artworks.

The new Lufthansa Star Chef completed her studies at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing before opening the Green T. House in 1997 and dedicating herself to her greatest passion – green tea. When her then chef abandoned his job unexpectedly, she had no alternative but to take over from him in the kitchen. Without any training or experience, she began to experiment. JinR combines classic Chinese cuisine with Western influences but her unusual dishes are created very spontaneously. Green tea plays an important role because she believes it is the best accompaniment to her the dishes. In the meantime, her imaginative cuisine has made her a celebrated star chef in China.
