Motorola, Inc. (NYSE:MOT) through Motorola Ventures, its strategic venture capital arm, has made an investment in VOCEL, a pioneering wireless push technology company and developer of the INCA (Interactive Commerce Accelerator) wake-up mobile marketing service. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed.

VOCEL’s INCA marketing services provide opt-in personalization, wake-up discovery, and one-click purchasing, which is designed to stimulate new data users and increase revenue for mobile operators and content publishers. INCA personalizes each marketing message through a sophisticated inference and recommendation engine that analyzes user-supplied demographics and past buying habits to select content that each subscriber is most likely to buy.

“Personalization is important to consumers and VOCEL’s application allows users to easily and seamlessly acquire the content they desire on their mobile devices,” said Reese Schroeder, managing director of Motorola Ventures. “INCA has gained significant operator interest, and our investment should help the company to achieve deployments across multiple operators.”

“Our marketing solution is transforming the way wireless operators market data services by enhancing a mobile phone customer’s ability to discover content,” said Carl Washburn, CEO of VOCEL. “It makes seamless discovery and purchase of content so simple, that any user can easily buy a ringtone, game, or application — making shopping by phone fun, fast and easy.”

About VOCEL
VOCEL’s patent-pending, active push promotion engine puts operators and content owners in the data driver’s seat to actively, versus passively, market content. VOCEL’s Interactive Commerce Accelerator (INCA) creates one-to-one marketing based on user preferences that converts existing non-buyers into buyers and builds an ongoing customer relationship that drives repeat purchases. VOCEL’s opt-in platform ensures users receive only the content they want, when they want it and simplifies the data purchase experience to a simple, single click.
