Laut aktuellem Quartalsbericht von IDC verzeichnet die Storage-Software von IBM zum neunten Mal in Quartalsfolge ein größeres Wachstum als der Storage-Software-Markt
IBM (NYSE: IBM) hat bekannt gegeben, dass das Unternehmen laut aktuellem IDC-Report (1) auf dem Storage-Software-Markt im ersten Quartal 2007 gegenüber dem Vorjahr ein zweistelliges Umsatzwachstum erzielt hat und damit schneller gewachsen ist als HP oder Symantec. Die Storage-Software von IBM konnte zum neunten Mal in Quartalsfolge ein gegenüber dem Markt überdurchschnittliches Wachstum vorlegen.
Im ersten Quartal 2007 hat IDC für die Storage Software von IBM ein Wachstum von 11.5 Prozent gegenüber dem Vorjahreswert ermittelt, was 12.3 Prozent des gesamten Storage-Software-Marktes entspricht.
Gleichzeitig hat IBM im Vergleich zum Vorjahr auch ein zweistelliges Umsatzwachstum in zentralen Storage-Software-Segmenten wie Data Protection und Recovery (13 Prozent Wachstum gegenüber dem Vorjahr), Storage-Infrastruktur (11.8 Prozent) und dem internationalen Segment (18 Prozent) erzielt. Damit konnte IBM seine Mitbewerber HP und Symantec in den genannten Bereichen an Wachstum überholen.
Andy Monshaw, General Manager bei IBM System Storage, erklärt: “Kunden, ob Großunternehmen oder Kleinbetrieb, achten in erster Linie darauf, dass ihre gesamte Storage-Infrastruktur darauf ausgelegt ist, einen schnellen Zugriff auf Daten zu ermöglichen, die Daten zu schützen und so zu archivieren, damit die Informationen wieder optimal verfügbar sind. Hier werden sie von der Storage Software unterstützt.”
Aufschwung für IBM im Storage-Bereich
IBM hat bekannt gegeben, dass das Unternehmen- gemäß IDC WW Disk Storage Tracker – seine Mitbewerber EMC und HP im Vergleich zum Vorjahr an Quartalsumsatzwachstum überholt hat (2). Der Quartalsbericht für die Storage Software erscheint direkt nach der Ankündigung von IBM, dass das Unternehmen laut eines IDC-Reports von Mai 2007 (3) der wichtigste Anbieter von Storage Hardware ist- die Ergebnisse beziehen sich auf die Bereiche Platten- und Bandspeicher im Jahr 2006- und damit alle anderen Mitbewerber hinter sich gelassen hat. Zusätzlich hat IBM im März 2007 erklärt, dass das Unternehmen im Bereich Bandspeicherlösungen den Markt seit fast vier Jahren anführt. Dieses Ergebnis wurde wiederum einem IDC-Bericht entnommen (4).

Report: IBM Achieves Double-Digit Revenue Growth in Storage Software for Q1 2007
New Quarterly Report From a Leading Research Firm Marks the Ninth Consecutive Quarter IBM Storage Software Has Outgrown the Storage Software Market
ARMONK, NY – 11 Jun 2007: IBM (NYSE: IBM) today announced that based on a new IDC report (1), the company achieved double-digit year-over-year revenue growth in the storage software market in Q1 2007, growing faster than H-P or Symantec. This marks the ninth consecutive quarter that IBM Storage Software had above-average growth compared to the market.
In the Q1 2007 IDC Storage Software Tracker, IBM grew 11.5 percent year-over-year overall, capturing 12.3 percent of the total storage software market.
In that same report, IBM also posted year-over-year double-digit revenue growth in key storage software segments including Data Protection and Recovery (13 percent year-over-year); Storage Infrastructure (11.8 percent year-over-year), and in the International Segment (18 percent year-over-year) — outgrowing H-P and Symantec in all of these areas.

Storage Momentum for IBM
Last week, IBM announced that based on the Q1 2007 IDC worldwide disk storage tracker results for the top three vendors(2), IBM outgrew EMC and H-P in year-over-year quarterly revenue. The quarterly storage software news comes on the heels of IBM announcing that based on a May 2007 IDC report (3), IBM was the number one total storage hardware vendor — for disk and tape combined for the year 2006 — beating out all major vendors. Additionally, in March 2007, IBM announced it was the number one vendor for all tape storage solutions — nearly four years running — based on an IDC report (4).
