Qantas Freight today announced that it would operate a second freight terminal from an off-airport location in Sydney from June, 2007.

SYDNEY – Qantas Executive General Manager Associated Businesses Grant Fenn said the new
terminal – the first of its kind in Australia – would allow Qantas Freight to meet customer demand for faster and more efficient services as import volumes continued to grow.

“The current Sydney freight terminal handles more international air freight than any other facility in Australia, so addressing issues of congestion and wait times for our Sydney freight customers has been a top priority,” Mr Fenn said.

“The new terminal will provide greater capacity and allow us to deliver a consistent, reliable and fast service to our customers.” Mr Fenn said Qantas Freight had been working closely with Australian Customs and AQIS to ensure all regulatory obligations were met.
He said the new off-airport terminal, located at Unit 3, 1-3 Burrows Road, Alexandria, would operate seven days per week and primarily focus on servicing major deconsolidators.
